Warner Robins GA pediatric dentist Dr. Pennington with a patientIf your child has a toothache, it can be from a variety of causes. There could be a cavity close to the nerve, an infection, a loose tooth or a number of other reasons. When tooth pain occurs, the most important thing is to act quickly to get your child out of pain. Our goal at Warner Robins Pediatric Dentistry is to get your child seen quickly so we can figure out what is causing the pain and then come up with a plan to make your child feel better.

Another common dental emergency is trauma to the teeth. Kids are active and sometimes accidents happen. We often see kids who have chipped, knocked out, or loosened their teeth. There are a variety of factors that determine what the best course of treatment is, but there are some good guidelines to follow for dental trauma:

  1. If there are any other medical issues including head injuries, please see a physician first.
  2. Contact our office by calling (478) 449-4200. For our patients we have an after hours phone line that is just for emergencies.
  3. If a tooth is knocked out or loose it is very important how the tooth is stored. First save the tooth or any pieces of the tooth. The best place for the tooth to be stored until Dr. Brandon can see you child is in the mouth. If the tooth is out of the mouth the next best option is for the tooth to be in a tooth saver solution. If all else fails milk is better than nothing at all. Water is not a good option.
  4. It is important to contact our office quickly. For some dental injuries being treated quickly will improve the health of the injured tooth.
